Harpers' Beckett goes for double at Roederer awards

Published:  18 January, 2007

Harpers' contributing editor, Neil Beckett, has been nominated for two awards at the inaugural Louis Roederer International Wine Writers' Awards.

Beckett, who is also the editor of new upmarket consumer magazine, The World of Fine Wine, is on the shortlists for both International Wine Writer of the Year, for his work in both magazines, and Champagne Writer of the Year, for his work as editor of the 2005 Harpers Champagne Supplement.

Beckett heads a shortlist which reads like a who's-who of Harpers contributors, with Jamie Goode, Margaret Rand, Anthony Rose and John Stimpfig all nominated for the International Wine Writer Award; John Radford, Tom Stevenson and Monty Waldin up for the Wine book of the Year Award; Giles Fallowfield, Tom Stevenson and Margaret Rand for the Champagne Writer title; and John Stimpfig up for the Regional Writer of the Year Award.

The winners, judged by a panel of leading trade figures and journalists, will be announced at a reception during Vinexpo in June.
