There is still time to vote and nominate the outstanding people and companies in the UK wine trade you think are doing the most to represent, promote and sell French wine as part of Harpers French Wine Awards.

The awards will be presented on October 21 at the end of Harpers second France Summit, a day dedicated to debating, analysing and tasting some of the benchmark French wines setting the agenda in the UK.

The France wine awards looks to reward those companies and individuals you think are leading the way with French wine in the UK. If there are any businesses or individuals that you would like to nominate then email Richard Siddle on richard.siddle@wrbm.com with your suggested finalists and the reason why you would like them to be considered.

The theme of this year's summit is to analyse how well the French wine industry is adapting its practices to work and meet the demands of the UK trade and the British consumer. It will also include the latest trading performance for French wine in the UK off-trade with Tim Wilson of the Wilson Drinks Report, an insight in to how French wine is being searched for online from Wines Direct, whilst Sopexa will look at how trends for French wine in the UK compares to the rest of the world.

The day will also include specialist masterclasses from world class sommeliers, Gerard Basset MS MW OBE and Kathrine Larsen, the current UK Sommelier of the Year, and a look at what French wine suits the independent sector with a masterclass from Hal Wilson of Cambridge Wine Merchants.  Basset's masterclasses are in his role as ambassador for summit partner, France AgriMer's French Wines with Style initiative. They will include 'France is in the House', an overview of more unusual French wines that could be an interesting and profitable alternative for house wines and 'Gerard Basset's Coup de Coeur wines' which will be his personal selection from the recent Hachette Guide.

Richard Evans of Dedicated Wines, Daniel Murphy of bulk wine brokers, Murphy Wine Company and Basset will give personal assessments of how they are working and succeeding with French wine in the UK.

A main industry debate featuring leading figures from all channels of the UK wine trade will assess how they are working with the French wine industry to bring wines British consumers want to drink in to the country.

The day will also feature a large open tasting featuring highlighted wines that match the overall theme of the day from the summit partners.

The French Summit partners to date include: France AgriMer, Les Grands Chais de France, Medoc, BIVB, Interloire, InterRhone, BIVC Centre Loire, Les Producteurs Plaimont and PLB.
