White founded Reno Wine in April 2011, with a small bottling facility in Norwich. He bottled wines from imported barrels, then washed and refilled collected customer empties. This operated online, with a delivery and collection service within Norfolk.

With returns sales accounting for 65% of trade, White knew that there was a market for returnable bottles.

"Opening a retail shop has given me the chance to bring in some interesting wines and local ales and ciders", he told Harpers.

Reno Wine will charge £2 for a reusable bottle, and £5.95 to fill it from one of the taps. Customers can then return their washed bottles and top up on their favourite grape for £5.95. Wines on offer include organic, vegan and low sulphur wines from producers around the world.

"I have some of Sting's wine from Tuscany, a few interesting grape varietals from Southern France and Slovenia and plenty of organic sparkling wines and champagnes. Our small range of spirits includes Fifty Pounds gin from London and Siberian Mamont Vodka", said White.

He is also selling a range of locally produced ales and ciders, many of them the work of friends he has made while 'doing the Farmers Market circuit in Norfolk' before opening the shop.

Customer response has been 'almost overwhelming', said White.

"The wines are very compelling and indeed the support has been so strong that I have had to bring forward by several weeks my new stock orders", he added.
