New Generation Wines has signed a deal to become Italy's Guerrieri Rizzardi's exclusive importer and agent in the UK.
The Kent-based firm says the deal took effect on April 1, and wines will be available "imminently".
Contessa Maria Cristina Rizzardi, president of the company, said; "We are delighted to be working with the dynamic New Generation Wines team who reflect our commitment to quality and excellence. 2014 is a significant year for our family, being the centenary of the winery Guerrieri Rizzardi, as well as seeing the release of the Amarone Calcarole 2009, winner of the Gambero Rosso 2014 Red Wine of the Year award. We look forward to sharing these milestones with our new UK partner."
Agostino Rizzardi, general manager, added: "During this special year we are planning a series of events with NGW in the UK to reflect these exciting developments, highlight our heritage and communicate the quality of our wines which are a true expression of the privileged vineyard sites enjoyed by our estates: Valpolicella - Pojega, Calcarole and Clos Roareti; Soave - La Rocca and Costeggiola; Bardolino - Tacchetto."
NGW managing director James Booth said: "Guerrieri Rizzardi is an ideal partner for NGW: independent and family-owned; leaders in their field; forward-thinking yet deeply established and with an amazing history; and most importantly producing delicious wines. This further strengthens the significant Italian section of NGW's portfolio, bringing top quality estate wines from some of the very best vineyards in Valpolicella Classico, Soave Classico and Bardolino Classico to our customers. The first shipment is just arriving in the UK and will be available imminently."
The range will be launched with a tasting and masterclass conducted by Giuseppe Rizzardi, winemaker, on April 28 at The River Café, London.
