Robinsons broadens horizons with Argentinia's Casarena

Published:  08 October, 2013

Robinsons Brewery has become the exclusive UK supplier for Casarena Bodega Y Viñedos on the back of double-digit growth in the Argentinian category.

This is Casarena's first step into the UK market as Robinsons' buyer Noel Reid pushes to bring forward-thinking, new-wave wineries into the UK and looks to partner quality-driven producers who reflect its ambition.

The company's growth in the Argentinian sector has seen sales double in 2012 in both tied-trade and free-trade outlets, and it said it is looking at double-digit growth again this year.

Casarena has a simple philosophy of harvesting grapes from the very best sites under the guidance of Bernado Bossi Bonilla who joined the project from Catena Zapata.

Reid said: "We have been working hard to bring to the UK exciting forward-thinking wineries which mirror our philosophy of quality and value and can bring a new dimension to the UK market and deliver something special to the final customer in a very crowded marketplace. With Casarena we have found incredible wines with Malbecs that really reflect the character of the grape. This quality and character is found at all levels from the Casarena 505 Malbec and Casarena Malbec Roble right through to the iconic award-winning single vineyard wines."

He added: "In addition to the Malbecs, the age of Casarena's vines ensures that all Cabernets produced at the Bodega are from 80-year-old vines and world beaters in their own right. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Mendoza and these are very serious wines indeed."
