Fuller's to list Casa Silva Cool Coast in UK

Published:  02 August, 2013

Casa Silva has announced it has secured a new UK on-trade listing for both its Cool Coast Sauvignon Blanc and Cool Coast Pinot Noir with London-based traditional family brewer Fuller's.

Its first Cool Coast wine was created by Casa Silva four years ago on the back of the move to find new vineyard areas with the right soil and climate to produce true "cool-climate" styles of undeniable quality. The Sauvignon Blanc from its Paredones Estate and the Pinot Noir, which has just been released into the market and is the first red wine to be produced from the area, will be available from Fuller's fine wine portfolio at varied prices according to outlet.

According to Johnny Bingham, sales director at Jackson Nugent, the agreement takes Chile into a "new future" and breaks "the stereotypical perception of Chilean wines in the UK away from entry-point Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc to showcase the fantastic wines Chile really has to offer".

Mario Pablo Silva, managing director of Casa Silva, said: "We are very excited to have gained this listing with Fuller's, who have a long history selecting and selling wines, working directly with the growers and developing strong relationships. For us the UK is a very important market, and as these wines pair so well with food, it is fantastic for us to have such a reputable company working to sell our wines in the on-trade across the UK."

Casa Silva produces its Cool Coast wines from grapes grown at Paredones, only 7km away from the Pacific Ocean, on a 20ha vineyard that was established as part of the Silva family's dedication to identifying the best terroirs within the Colchagua Valley for producing world-class wines.

The sub-valley's cool climate is tempered by its proximity to the ocean, with daytime temperatures fluctuating from 8°C to 25°C during high season, helping to preserve the natural aromatic flavours and acidity of the grapes.
