Online retailer, dropwines.com, has launched a new VIP wine club that for £10 per month subscription gives members access to wine at wholesale prices with no delivery charge.

VIP members will also be able to gain exclusive and early access to limited edition wines, enjoy private wine concierge services, attend invitation-only tastings with leading winemakers and be offered personalised, tailored wine selections.

Dropwines.com claims members will be able to enjoy savings of up to 50% off high street prices, which represents a further 20% off its current prices online.

"We want to be able to provide the most interesting, exciting wine to people without price becoming a barrier," said lead wine buyer Richard Verney, who has been in the the wine trade for 14 years, previously with Berry Bros & Rudd and as the head buyer for Oddbins.

He said to stand out online you have to be able to offer something different, but if you do the future is bright for online wine sales. "Our key price is £15+, and from our regular range on the site we are selling between 30-40 palattes a month. We are hoping to expand the business by a factor of four by December and our growth up until now has indicated that this is achievable," said Verney.

VIP members can unsubscribe and re-subscribe to the service as often as they like.
