Bibendum has undertaken board changes on the back of an efficiency project that will enable the company to be more efficient and effective in meeting customers' requirements.

Managing director, Michael Saunders revealed that the project focused on IT, logistics is looking at ways to get a bottle of wine from the producer to the customer as efficiently and effectively as possible.

As a result, Richard Cochrane, previously off-trade director, will become trading director with responsibility for all sales and customer-facing activity, including trade marketing, customer training and sales support.

Kirstie Papworth, previously supply director, will become commercial director with a remit that covers all supplier-facing aspects of the business including all wine and spirits buying, producer management, shipping and new product development.

Saunders said: "We have enjoyed incredible, organic growth as a business over the last seven years or so and have ambitious plans for the future.

"This initiative is all about ensuring our systems and processes are as robust and up to date as possible, allowing us to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers."

2012 is the company's 30th anniversary year and it expects it to be its "busiest ever",  on the back of the Olympics and Queen's Diamond Jubilee this summer.

He added: "The results of this work will allow us to offer the best possible levels of customer service, to go alongside our exceptional wine and spirits range, staff training and consumer insights."
