Renaissance opens sixth site

Published:  10 August, 2011

South London bar operator Renaissance Pubs has opened its sixth site, the Rosendale in West Dulwich.

Tom Peake, Mark Reynolds and Nick Fox of Renaissance Pubs, responsible for venues including The Avalon, The Abbeville and The Bolingbroke among others, have renovated the Victorian coaching inn to hold more than 400 covers.

It now has a 65-cover dining room, a 50-cover main bar and gardens that can hold a further 300 covers. The first floor houses two private dining rooms: the West Room seats 100 and can host up to 160 for receptions, while the smaller East Room has 25 covers seated and caters for 40 standing.

The design has a "countryside feel" with steel chandeliers, Chesterfield sofas, large Victorian windows and an original fireplace has been completely restored. It also has vintage theatre posters, a feature London wallpapered map and antique prints from artist Adam Ellis.

Loris Dario, former head chef at Renaissance's Tommyfield pub, under the direction of executive chef Massimo Tebaldi, has created a seasonal British pub menu, including pork belly with salsa verde and crushed Jersey royals.

The drinks list is equally important with an extensive wine list that includes over 20 wines available by the glass or carafe, as well as a rotating selection of cask ales including Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter and Sam Brook's Pale Ale.
