Champagne producers will attend today's Champagne Bureau (CIB) annual tasting in a celebratory mood, after it was announced volumes in the UK jumped last year in spite of the recession.
The 2011 Annual Tasting, is being held at Whitehall's Banqueting House, is set to be the largest on record, with 83 Champagne producers, 3,000 bottles, and 250 wines showcased.
The CIB said the order of the day is to celebrate the wine's diversity, the UK's position as the number one export market and most importantly that 2010 UK volumes in shipments are up by 16.3% to 35.5million from 2009.
Key Champagne industry figures Bruno Paillard, president of the commission communication & appellation CIVC, Andrew Hawes, chairman of the UK Champagne Agents' Association, Daniel Lorson, director of communication, CIVC and Dominique Moncomble technical department director, CIVC) will be present and available for interviews on the global Champagne market and the UK Champagne market.
