"2001 a memorable year."
Despite the severe weather conditions last week, more than 500 people battled against the elements and transport problems to attend the annual banquet for the International Wine and Spirit Competition at London's Guildhall. Warren Winiarski, the IWSC president for 2001, accepted his medal of office from the Baroness Philippine de Rothschild at the sponsor's lunch held on the day following the banquet. Winiarski is the owner of the acclaimed Stags Leap Wine Cellars, Napa Valley. On taking up his year of office, he said that he was delighted: "I am looking forward to working with the IWSC to make 2001 a memorable year." *** Full coverage of the event will appear in the 17 November print edition of Harpers Wine & Spirit Weekly
