Two Masters of Wine - Peter McCombie and Peter Richards - will be sharing their expertise on Chilean wine in a series of exclusive masterclasses at the Harpers Chile Summit on Monday, November 22.
McCombie's masterclass will challenge some of the perceptions of Chilean wine in both the on and off-trade and show how by better sourcing you can trade customers up to more premium wines that express the excellence of its winemaking.
Richards' masterclass will address diversity within Chile, with a look at some of the impressive styles that are putting it on the world map.
A must attend event for anyone in the business of selling Chilean wine, the day will also include a lively mix of seminars, debates and educational tasting zones.
Speakers in the off-trade debate include Tesco wine buyer James Griswood, Sainsbury's Chilean buyer Julie Buckley, independent retailer Richard Yates from Cheshire-based Corks Out and Estelle Dauré from Las Niñas Winery in Apalta, who will look at key issues surrounding ranging, varietals, price points, premiumisation, consumer education and where Chile sits in the New World/South American category. Trading issues such as currency and distribution will also be up for debate.
From the on-trade Hakkasan's group wine buyer Christine Parkinson and the Cinammon Club's sommelier Laurant Chaniac join a host of Chilean experts keen to impart their top tips and advice on how to maximise profit from Chilean wine. Key issues including where Chile sits on a wine list, the right varietals for the on-trade, opportunities for premium listings and consumer education will all be addressed.
