Three products were found to be in breach of the Portman Group's Drinks Industry Code of Practice last week - including Halewood International's super-strength cider Hard Core. The panel decided that the phrases Triple X' and for Adult use only' on Hard Core's label, together with the product's name, were likely to be interpreted as referring to pornography, suggesting sexual prowess. It was also felt that other phrases, such as This label contains very strong liquid' were also inappropriate. The other two products found in breach, Cannabis Vodka and Logan Original Hemp Vodka, were both criticised for alluding to illicit drugs. Halewood and Drinks Merchant Ltd, which produces Logan Original Hemp Vodka, agreed to modify the packaging. The producers of Cannabis Vodka did not respond and retailers and licencees are asked to remove it from sale.
