Prosecco brand Follador has arrived in the UK for the first time, and is targeting the upmarket on-trade and independent retail sectors with its wine portfolio.
Seeking to cash in on the growth of the UK Prosecco market, Follador opened its Mayfair office earlier this week.
Cristina Follador, sales and marketing manager said: "The time is right for us to enter the UK market. The consumer has embraced Prosecco, as illustrated in the growth of the category over the last 18 months, but this is really down to a generic awareness; as yet Prosecco brands don't share the resonance of their Champagne counterparts, giving an excellent opportunity for a top quality winery like Follador to lead the way."
Winemakers since 1769, the family-owned Follador is now located in the town of Col San Martino. The majority of the vineyards owned by Follador are used for the production of Valdobbiadene Superiore, but Chardonnay grapes are also grown for blending with the Prosecco as well as making still wines.
More recently, the family bought Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in the hills of Montello Colli Asolani, in order to produce small volumes of premium red wines, including its Cabernet Montello e Colli Asolani Ca' Dei Noni.
Follador UK is in the process of appointing UK distributors and a salesperson.
