London restaurant Clos Maggiore is championing that most traditional of aphrodisiacs in a special chocolate-laden tasting menu designed to coincide with National Chocolate Week.

Head chef Marcellin Marc has created a six-course menu to showcase the variety of different ways that chocolate can be used to complement sweet and savoury dishes. It will be served throughout the week, with an optional range of wines intended to further complement the chocolate flavours.

Marc said: "British diners are of course huge consumers of chocolate but when it comes to cooking with chocolate, they typically only think of desserts. Clos Maggiore's special menu shows that chocolate is a wonderfully complex ingredient that can be used in a huge variety of unconventional ways that even complements a traditional approach to French cuisine - and it tastes great too."

The menu is priced at £55, or £95 with wine, and will be served in the conservatory area of the restaurant on King Street, Covent Garden, or the upstairs dining room. National Chocolate Week takes place from October 11-17.
