Hyde de Villaine, the new Californian venture between Aubert de Villaine and Larry Hyde, is launching its range of wines in the UK next month.

The venture was founded in 2000 in Carneros, Napa, and the wines include two Chardonnays, a Syrah and a Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend.

The Hyde de Villaine wines come from the 6.9ha of organically farmed Hyde vineyards.
Aubert de Villaine is co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and co-owner of Domaine A & P de Villaine (Bouzeron), while Larry Hyde, who is a cousin of Aubert's wife Pamela, owns Hyde vineyard.

A spokesman for the partnership said: "The two partners share the same philosophy; respect for the combined families' histories, a belief in a sense of place and a profound awareness of responsibility towards future generations.

"The four wines embody this; they combine a degree of the finesse, elegance and refinement, which most of us would associate with European wines, with a balance of richness and vitality afforded by the relatively cool, windy climate of the Carneros region."

The president of the company is 44-year-old Rick Hyde III and his cousin  Charles Fairbanks is general manager. The pair will be in London to give a masterclass at UK agent Corney & Barrow's annual tasting on October 14.
