New Generation Wines has acquired Stokes Fine Wines UK business.
Hampshire-based Stokes, which has been trading for 23 years, will concentrate on developing its international business.
Stokes will also take a shareholding in NGW, and director Justin Liddle will join its board, dividing his time between both companies.
NGW will add to its portfolio Waiheke Island producer Man O'War Vineyards; Marlborough's boutique Auntsfield Estate; Central Otago's Chard Farm; Churchill's range of Port and Douro wines; Teusner Wines, Kalleske and Massena from the Barossa and Umamu Estate in the Margaret River.
NGW will also acquire agencies from Australian producers including Spinifex, Rusden, Torzi Matthews and Schwarz.
Justin Liddle, Stokes director said the firm had been "fully stretched" prior to the acquisition, adding that NGW had the "perfect infrastructure" already in place to tackly the UK market.
"Our producers are complementary, and our approach to market is similar."
"We will have a much clearer strategy for both companies, and the move will allow Stokes to provide the quality of service required by our diverse customer groups," added Liddle.
James Booth, managing director of NGW said "This transaction represents an important strategic step in the development of NGW. The combined customer base and portfolio reinforces our position in the key London on trade and independent merchant sectors."
