Parker judges UK wine websites

Published:  23 July, 2008

The 6th edition of Robert Parker: The Wine Buyer's Guide was published on 1 October. For the first time, Parker rates wine information websites, praising a handful of UK sites, most notably wine-pages.com (published by Harpers contributor Tom Cannavan): This superb site focuses on the UK wine scene. It is an all-inclusive site with excellent postings as well as a British perspective. It is a friendly, easily navigated site with plenty of bells and whistles.' However, Parker is more guarded about other UK offerings. Of Decanter.com he said: This site should be better than it is,' but it is worth checking out for news items and that quirky British point of view.' JancisRobinson.com is described as overpriced for the material offered, but no one should ignore the musings of the chatty Jancis'. A fourth UK site, wineanorak.com, fares better, being described as offering considerable value. The attention to wine novices is a particularly useful attraction.'
