Sloe Whisky wins a gold

Published:  17 August, 2009

Sloe Motion, the North Yorkshire family run Sloe Gin producing company, has won a national award for its Sloe Whisky.

Two gold stars were awarded at the Great Taste Awards 2009, on the back of Sloe Motion's sister liqueur Sloe Gin in 2008, which also won a gold.

The national Great Taste Awards organised by the Guild of Fine Food and have been running since 1993. All entries undergo rigorous tests, including blind tastings, by a specially selected panel of experts, including leading chefs, buyers, food critics and deli owners.

Of the 4873 products entered in this year's Awards, 639 achieved one gold star, 308 received two stars and 83 were awarded three stars.

Managing director Jonathan Curtoys, of Sloe Motion said: "Our Sloe Whisky is always extremely popular at tastings and has a fast-growing fan club. It means a great deal to be given the seal of approval by independent experts in the speciality food industry."
