Foster's EMEA goes green

Published:  30 April, 2009

Foster's EMEA - the European, Middle Eastern and African division of Foster's Group Limited and a leading producer and distributor of wine in the UK - has announced it is the first wine company to join a major initiative from the Waste and Resource's Action Programme (WRAP).

WRAP's Courtauld Commitment is aimed at reducing the amount of packaging thrown away each year to help the UK hit its EU Landfill Directive targets and contribute to the overall resource efficiency of the retail, food and drink manufacturing sectors.

Rob Hollis, Supply Chain Director for Foster's EMEA, says: "Through engaging with WRAP's retail innovation team, and signing the Courtauld Commitment, we are now collaborating with other signatories to help achieve 2010 packaging targets, as well as developing future strategies.

"Reducing green house gas emissions is a global priority for Foster's. We see WRAP as instrumental in achieving our own environmental objectives and assisting the UK government to achieve its EU Landfill and Packaging Directives. We're looking forward to seeing more UK wine suppliers getting on board."
