Foley Wine restructures

Published:  03 February, 2009

California's Foley Wine Group has centralised its admin, purchasing, customer service and marketing functions in Sonoma after the acquisition of Sebastiani Vineyards in December.

The company - which also own Lincourt, Foley Estates, Firestone, Merus and the Washington winery Three Rivers - is also to change its name to Foley Family Wines.

The change will reflect "the family ownership and entrepreneurial spirit that will continue to drive this company," according to president Tim Matz.

A sales organisation of five zones covering the US will be set-up, each with its own sales manager and supported by a network of 10 regional and district sales managers.

The merger of Sebastiani into the group will see a small number of staff and management job losses.

Matz said: "Change is inevitable and necessary. We have no further plans for any other structural changes and we foresee and increase in staffing as we grow our business.

"Foley is now positioned to be an important part of the global wine industry in the super- and ultra-premium categories."
