Berry Bros stars in BBC4 programme

Published:  31 January, 2009

A new BBC4 mini-series about the wine trade is devoting its first programme to a profile of Berry Bros & Rudd.

The episode, titled Wine: The Firm, charts a hectic year in a life of the wine merchant as the financial markets go into turmoil.

Featuring Berrys' buyers Jasper Morris MW and Simon Staples, the programme explores the company's relationships with the winemakers and chateaux owners of Burgundy and Bordeaux.

The film includes winemaker David Clarke of Morey-Saint-Denis, in Burgundy, and the general manager of Chateau Cos d'Estournel, Jean-Guillaume Prats, as it reveals "the eccentric and compelling world of wine", Berrys said.

The programme will be aired on February 16 at 9pm. The second episode, called The Faith, focuses on Chateau Margaux and the third, The Future, is devoted to Oupa Rangaka and Mark Solms - who operate South Africa's only black-owned vineyard.
