United Brands schnapps up Godfrey's

United Brands has added Godfrey's Schnapps to its premium portfolio as of November 1st 2008.

United Brands has added Godfrey's Schnapps to its premium portfolio as of November 1st 2008.

The Southampton-based beer, wines and spirits distributor aims to increase Godfrey's presence in the on-trade, and develop the position of the brand "as a key player in the specialist drinks market".

Godfrey's Schnapps claims an 80-year heritage, based on a family recipe said to take its inspiration from the tradition of wine-making and fruit distillation from the Valencia region of Spain.

"Godfrey's is an exciting addition that fits in perfectly with the United Brands group," said Rob Preston, managing director of United Brands.

The brand is to be relaunched, with new packaging.
