Barracuda invested £800,000 to convert the premises, which are located in the birthplace of Barracuda's chief executive, Mark McQuater.
"Whilst all of our openings are a special occasion and a reason to celebrate, this was certainly a night to remember," said McQuater. "It's a fantastic feeling to open a site in your home town. The pub has opened just as the redevelopment and rejuvenation programme has begun on this attractive town, so I'm confident that the site will play an important role in the community."
The pub is named after a stone monument which once stood in front of the site of the pub.
