Birmingham's first dedicated wine school launches next month as part of a planned franchise programme in the UK.

Birmingham Wine School is offering a range of courses, from single introductory sessions to ten week courses.

The school is one of several that owner Chris Powell plans to open. Powell is looking for franchises in Leeds and Edinburgh and already owns a further school in Newcastle which has been open since 2000.

"Having a franchise is a great opportunity because it allows the franchisee to run their own business within our already successful brand and with lots of support from people who are also running their own wine schools.

"The franchises are ideal for people who want to turn their lifelong love of wine into a career," says Powell.

The franchisee of the Birmingham school is previous chief operating officer for BT retail, Rob Price.
