Tapanappa Wines expands with new general manager

Published:  25 July, 2008

The board of Tapanappa Wines has appointed Xavier Bizot as general manager.

The appointment is effective immediately and follows a decision to expand the market programme for the company wines.

Tapanappa Wines is the enterprise between the Croser family of Australia, led by Brian Croser, founder and winemaker of Tapanappa, together with the families of Bollinger of Champagne and the Cazes family of Chateau Lynch Bages of Pauillac, Bordeaux.

Tapanappa owns a number of well known Australian vineyards including; the 30
years old Tiers Chardonnay Vineyard in the Piccadilly Valley, the 35 years old Whalebone Cabernet/Shiraz Vineyard at Wrattonbully and the pioneering Foggy Hill Pinot Noir Vineyard on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia.

Bizot, aged 35, joins Tapanappa after a successful career as a commercial lawyer in Paris and after completing his postgraduate studies in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Adelaide in June 2008.

He said: "The experience of developing Terroir Selections has given me insights into the market for unique wines from 'distinguished terroirs' which directly relates to the vineyards and wines of Tapanappa. It will be a privilege to help develop the global market for the wines of Tapanappa's very special vineyards."
