Seven new MWs
The Institute of Masters of Wine has announced seven students have become Masters of Wine (MW), including Sweden's first MW.
The UK-based successes are Peter Mitchell, who sells wine to the restaurant trade for Laytons Wine Merchants; Pierpaolo Petrassi, who will take up the role of senior product development manager at Tesco, for Australia, New Zealand and Italy, in October; and Greg Sherwood, the general manager of London wine merchant Handford Wines.
Canada now also boasts its first female MW, Barbara Philip, and Ulf Sjodin, marketing manager for V&S wine in Stockholm is Sweden's first MW.
They will be presented with their certificates by the Master of the Vintners' Company at the Institute's Annual Reception and Awards Ceremony on Thursday November 1 2007 in Vintners' Hall, London.
