Investment firm increases stake in C&C

Published:  23 July, 2008

Janus Capital Management increases its stake in troubled Irish firm C&C to 8.07%.

A statement to the Irish stock exchange showed that Janus, which has been building up its stake in C&C in recent weeks, bought 1.25million shares in its latest purchase on 9 August.

It did not disclose details of the price paid.

C&C, the makers of Magners, reported that its sales were down 45% year-on-year in July. It blamed bad weather and increased competition for the downturn.
