Californian wine maker Kendall-Jackson has launched a blended red it claims is aimed at premium buyers.
The product will be marketed as Kendall-Jackson Vintner's reserve Meritage.
Rick Tigner, sales executive vice president for the company's Majestic Fine Wines sales arm said the market was crowded with 'low end' imports and there were 'more than a dozen' costlier rivals.
'Kendall-Jackson is perfectly situated to take the lead in the above-$12 (5.92) price range," he said.
Its latest product is blended from Californian-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes.
The company is family-owned and has been trading for twenty five years.
The wine is not available in the UK.
