Police in the Chinese capital, Beijing, put a stop to a winemaker's planned mass nude run' on Christmas Eve.
The Jixiang Ruyi Tobacco and Alcohol Company had organised the event to discourage the use of excessive packaging' in the industry, and offered nearly 300 people the sum of 10,000 yuan (about 650) to take part in a naked dash around the streets of Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province.
According to the People's Daily newspaper, the company advertised for auspicious' men and women aged under 30 to apply - provided they had healthy bodies and regular features'.
The goal of this streaking event is to raise consumer awareness and declare war on the excessive packaging of baijiu [a grain-based spirit popular in China] through the language of the body,' said a spokesman.
