New boss at German Wine Institute

Published:  23 July, 2008

Monika Reule has been appointed as managing director of the German Wine Institute.

She replaces Holger Kirsten, who has held the post on an interim basis since July.

Reule, who has also been appointed to the executive committee of the German Wine Fund, was previously employed by the dairy association of the state of Baden-Wrttemberg, firstly as a consultant for promoting milk in schools, and secondly as acting MD.

Norbert Weber, chairman of the board of directors, said: Ms Reule clearly prevailed over her strong competitors.'

Armin Goering, who had held the post for nearly 10 years, before Kirsten took over the role temporarily in the summer, is to retire.
