Hardy's CEO to step down in 2007

Published:  23 July, 2008

David Woods, CEO and MD of Hardy Wine Company, has announced that he will be stepping down on 30 June next year.

Woods joined the company, which was then known as Thomas Hardy & Sons, in 1987, as sales and marketing manager at Houghton Wines, based in Perth.

During his time at Hardy's, he has held posts including national sales manager and international trading director, before being appointed to his current role in 2003.

Woods said: Being part of the team which has seen Hardy's grow from a mid-sized family wine business in the mid-1980s to Australia's largest wine producer and now part of the world's largest wine company has been an incredible experience.'

Robert Sands, CEO of Constellation Brands, which acquired Hardy's in May 2003, added: David and his team have built an enviable position for the Hardy Wine Company, which continues to succeed in a dynamic world wine climate.

We thank him for his commitment to the business through the integration of our businesses, and we wish him every success for a healthy and happy retirement.'

A Hardy's spokesman confirmed that Woods' replacement would be appointed early in 2007.
