Sussex-based producer Rathfinny has appointed Liberty Wines as its sole agent in the UK and Ireland.
Established in 2010, the family-owned estate has become one of the more prominent producers of English sparkling and still wines, with its vineyards now covering 93ha of the South Downs.
Rathfinny is best known for its sparkling range, comprising Classic Cuvée, Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs and Rosé, all of which are made with fruit from its own vines.
Mark Driver, co-owner with Sarah Driver of Rathfinny (pictured), said: “It has always been our aim to be one of the on-trade’s favourite English sparkling wines and Liberty Wines, who specialise in selling to both the on-trade and independent off-trade, are a perfect distribution partner for Rathfinny.
“They supply some of the top hotels, bars and restaurants across the UK and Ireland, many of whom are already serving our wines by the glass. Over the coming years, we hope to deepen those relationships and welcome new customers to our wine estate in Sussex.”
Tom Platt, sales director of Liberty Wines, added: “There is a natural fit between Liberty Wines and Rathfinny, as not only do we share a similar philosophy, but also they complement perfectly our existing English Sparkling portfolio.”
Platt thanked Gonzalez Byass, which had the Rathfinny account for three years, saying that Liberty looked forward to building upon the “great work” that it had done.
The 2017 vintage sparkling wines from Rathfinny will be released and available through Liberty Wines in April/May this year.
