Author and occasional Harpers contributor Andrew Jefford has been named the world's best drink journalist at an awards ceremony in Adelaide.
Jefford beat off competition from, among others, fellow Harpers contributor New Zealander Paul White and former Harpers editor Tim Atkin MW to earn the Best Drink Journalist gong at the World Food Media Awards.
Other British winners at the ceremony were Monty Waldin, who won Best Wine Book for Biodynamic Wines (Mitchell Beazley), and Charles MacLean, who took the Best Drink Book award for his Scotch Whisky (Sterling Publishing). But British consumer magazine Decanter was beaten to Best Drink Magazine by Australia's own Gourmet Traveller WINE.
