Following the success of The Benevolent's Christie's wine auction in 2003, the second Benevolent auction will take place at Christie's from 10.30am on 17 November. Many special and rare-bottling wines and spirits will be on sale, all having been donated by companies in the trade.
They include such items as Jroboams of Vintage Champagne, an Impriale of Chteau de Pez 1996, fine Port and Champagne, old and very rare bottles of malt whisky
and Cognac, as well as many other affordable bottles of
wine. A lunch for four people at Berry Bros in St James's with specially chosen wine is also up for auction.
The 2003 auction raised 26,000, which went towards funding additional grants to beneficiaries. Mike Campbell, chief executive of The Benevolent, commented: This is a very important fund-raising event for us and we are very grateful for everyone's support.'
