Decanter launches Asian edition

Published:  23 July, 2008

Consumer wine magazine Decanter is to launch a dedicated Far East edition next month - the first western wine magazine to do so.

Printed in Chinese it will be sold in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, as well as mainland China.

According to the magazine's website: The Asian Decanter will be made up mainly of content from the UK edition, translated into traditional Chinese text. The remaining 30% of the editorial content will be generated locally by Decanter's Asian partner Choice, which will publish and distribute the magazine.'

The first issue is set to hit the market next month, with a print run of 10,000 copies.

It's possible to buy the English-language editions of all the major magazines, and there are various local titles, but they're not sufficiently in-depth for serious wine lovers,' said Frank Ong, publisher of Decanter in Asia and director of product development at Choice.
