Friarwood has signed a deal as the exclusive UK distributor for Jackson Family Wines’ (JFW) Oregon winery, Penner Ash Wine Cellars.
The deal, which takes place with immediate effect, sees Friarwood take on distribution across the on and off-trade of Penner-Ash, which specialises in Pinot Noir and old-vine Riesling from the northern Willamette Valley, with a focus on Viognier and Syrah from Oregon’s Rogue and Columbia Valleys.
The premium Penner-Ash winery was the “perfect” addition to Friarwood’s portfolio, said head buyer, Auriane d’Aramon.
“This superlative Oregon winery is very much in line with our strategy to be known for offering wines worth discovering," she said.
Lori Buchanan, JFW senior sales director, Europe & the Middle East, said: “I am excited to build on our UK distribution partnership with Friarwood and feel assured that this fine wine, which offers the truest expression of the region’s most distinguished vineyards, will appeal to top restaurants, exclusive wine bars and independent retailers alike.”
Founded in 1998, Penner-Ash’s portfolio spans the whole of the Willamete Valley AVA and its six sub-AVAs, with Penner-Ash sourcing from its estate vineyard and well as some of the region’s most eminent vineyards, including the Shea Vineyard in Yamhill- Carlton, the Bramble Hill Vineyard in Ribbon Ridge, and the Zena Crown Vineyard in Eola-Amity.
