Campari comeback continues with Negroni Week UK launch

Published:  18 May, 2017

The first official Negroni Week is coming to the UK next month.

The weeklong celebration of the bittersweet cocktail is being backed by comeback king Campari, which has enjoyed a recent revival thanks largely to the recent cocktail boom and the growth of the Negroni.

Launched in 2013, the charity initiative has run in various international markets over the past four years to encourage a focus on Negroni mixology and to raise money for worthy causes.

Next month will mark the first time the initiative has come to the UK, and bars/restaurants are being invited to take part.

Campari has traditionally been a core ingredient in the classic Negroni cocktail, which is a blend of sweet vermouth, gin, and bitters.

Once a regular fixture in liquor cabinets in the 1970s, Campari – an Italian red bittersweet apéritif - then fell out of vogue.

It has since bounced back, with a strong UK focus instigated by the launch of Campari UK in 2015 and prime-location offices on the 27th floor of the Shard.

The first UK Negroni week will run from 5 to 11 June.
