Skin Côntact reform to raise money for Comic Relief

Published:  20 January, 2016

Wine trade supergroup Skin Côntact is reforming for a one-off gig at Islington's O2 Academy to raise money for Wine Relief, the wine trade's fundraising initiative which supports Comic Relief.

The band's inaugural show last year at London's Vinopolis raised over £10,000.

The Skin Côntact LIVE AGAIN! event will also feature what is billed as a superstar DJ battle and all-new singers.

Skin Côntact is inviting anyone who would like to sing with them to enter a competition which could see you performing on stage at this iconic London venue.

The O2 Academy has played host to the likes of Muse, Eminem and KISS, among many many others.

Details of the competition are available here.

The core band remains unchanged, with writer Richard Hemming MW on keyboards; Berkmann's purchasing director Alex Hunt MW on lead guitar; Concha y Toro head of communications Ben Smith on bass; and Matt James, founder of The Bordeaux Cellar on drums.

Smith and James are former professional musicians, with Curiosity Killed the Cat and Gene, respectively.

Hemming said: "I can't quite believe this is happening. Again. We've already got some fantastic wine trade personalities lined up to sing, and I'm stupidly excited about performing at the Islington Academy.

"I'm also hugely enthusiastic about our competition to discover the wine trade's top singing talent, and want to encourage absolutely everyone in the wine trade to get involved.

"Skin Côntact LIVE AGAIN! is going to be the wine trade event of the year. Again!"

The event is being supported by Côtes du Rhône wines for the second year, and the evening will begin with an exclusive tasting for all ticket holders.

"How could we possibly say no to this roof-raising and fund-raising opportunity?" Agnès Heller of Inter-Rhône said.

"Comic Relief is such a fitting charity for us to support and I fully anticipate that Skin Côntact LIVE AGAIN will once more emerge triumphant as the Wine Trade event of the year."

The Skin Côntact LIVE AGAIN! experience takes place on Thursday May 12. Tickets cost £20 plus booking fee, and 100% of the ticket's face value will go to Wine Relief.

Tickets go on sale next month.
