New Generation Wines has acquired Plowden Fine Wines' wholesale business with the aim of boosting its on-trade distribution across London and the south east.
Both firms were set up in 2006 with New Generation focusing on a global wine portfolio for on-trade, through regional and national wholesalers, independents and multiples. Plowden, set up by Piers Plowden, specialises in French and Italian wines.
Piers Plowden will join the New Generation team as London and south east on-trade sales director.
New Generation's managing director James Booth said: "I'm really pleased that the agreement with PFW has been reached. Piers has an excellent range of wines from exciting producers and a quality customer base. Both are a great fit with NGW. We both share a philosophy of quality combined with integrity. We will continue to offer wines that are both interesting and represent excellent value."
Piers Plowden added: "I am delighted to be joining the dynamic NGW team and continuing to develop ever stronger customer relationships in London and the south east. The broader portfolio of superb wines from across the wine world, together with the enlarged customer service and administration resources, will greatly enhance the offering to PFW clients."
The changes take place today, Monday October 22.
