Nyetimber English Sparkling Wine has announced the appointment of Christian Holthausen as its marketing and communications manager.
The former international house communications director at Champagnes Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidseick joins the Sussex-based vineyard to drive its marketing and public relations campaign which has already seen significant success in 2012, in particular being chosen as the sparkling wine served on the Queen's Barge during her Diamond Jubliee Pageant this summer.
"Christian brings with him a wealth of knowledge and we are delighted that he shares our belief that we create wines of a Grand Marque standard," said owner and chief executive officer Eric Heerema.
"The creation of this new role is consistent with our strategy to continue to build an outstanding team and expand Nyetimber's recognition for quality in the UK and abroad."
Nyetimber is the first brand in England to grow only the types of grapes allowed in the Champagne region: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Vines were first planted at the estate in 1988, and since acquiring Nyetimber in 2006, Dutch businessman Eric Heerema "has been committed to investing in the very best technology to produce wines of Grand Marque standard," according to a spokesman.
