Welsh Wine Week gets under way

Published:  06 June, 2012

Vineyards across Wales will be opening their doors to consumers during Welsh Wine Week.

The promotion will run until June 10 and will see participating winemakers offer visitors the opportunity to tour vineyards, take part in tasting sessions, learn about how the wines are produced and take advantage of discounts.

Among the vineyards taking part is White Castle Vineyard in Abergavenny, which will be launching its first ever wines during Welsh Wine Week, having planted vines in 2009.

Welsh Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries & European Programmes, Alun Davies, said: "With the awareness and popularity of homegrown wines on the increase among consumers, there's never been a better time for us to help further raise the profile of Welsh wine and spread the word about its quality and future potential."
