Bibendum to promote English wines and spirits

Published:  14 March, 2012

Bibendum is launching a summer campaign to promote English wines and spirits to the on-trade.

Entitled, British Summer Time BST, the aim is to showcase boutique producers in a campaign that will run through the summer until the clocks go back in October.

It has listed nine new English wines from five producers  - a'Beckett's (Wiltshire), Furleigh Estate (Dorset) and Nyetimber (West Sussex) which will join long standing Bibendum producers Chapel Down (Kent) and Hush Heath Estate (Kent) in the company's expanded English portfolio.

BST will also include English spirits and beers in the form of Portobello Gin, the Somerset Brandy Company and Curious Brew beers and will be promoting cocktails made with classic British ingredients and English wines, including a Rhubarb Royale and Elderflower Kir.

Bibendum will support the wines with POS material and is planning consumer visits to producers in conjunction with its on-trade partners.

Marketing director, Fiona Cochran, said: "2012 is the perfect time for everyone to focus on British products and show the visiting world just how good our food and drink really is.

"Demand for high quality, local products has been rising for several years and we expect the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and London Olympics to increase this even further.

She added: "BST is the ideal way for our on trade customers to make the most of this fantastic opportunity."

Bibendum will launch BST at its LDN spring trade tasting at Altitude 360 at Millbank Tower in London on March 19.
