The group is the dedicated social responsibility body for drinks producers, regulating the marketing of all UK drinks companies under the Portman Code.

For one of the vacancies, applications are being sought particularly from those with a health or alcohol services background.

Sir Richard Tilt, chairman of the Independent Complaints Panel, said: "The panel performs a vitally important role in ensuring the strict standards for alcohol marketing in the UK are upheld."

David Poley, chief executive of the Portman Group which provides the secretariat function for the panel, said: "The Independent Complaints Panel is the 'jury' in our system.

"It is vital that its members are drawn from a diverse range of backgrounds."

"Since the start of 2011, we have introduced a system of open advertising and recruitment to ensure that as many people as possible are aware of the panel vacancies when they arise."

It is supported by its nine member companies: AB InBev; Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands UK; Beverage Brands UK; Carlsberg UK; Diageo GB; Heineken UK; Magners GB; Molson Coors Brewing Company UK; and Pernod Ricard UK.
