The red harvest began in Dourthe's estates in the Medoc on September 13, under clear blue skies.
Harvesters are picking among the young Merlot vines at Château Belgrave in St Laurent, at Château Le Boscq in St Estèphe and in the commune of Vertheuil for Château Reysson.
It's still quiet amongst the red vines at Château La Garde (Pessac Léognan), on the Right Bank at Château Pey la Tour (Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur) and at Château Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac (St Emilion Grands Cru).
"We will only start picking when the grapes are ready," said Patrick Jestin, chief executive of Dourthe, "This should not delay certain parcels but we are taking advantage of the sunshine and favourable temperatures we have enjoyed in recent days."
