L'Alliance des Crus Bourgeois du Médoc is to unveil the Official Selection of Crus Bourgeois 2009, the second vintage to be assessed under the new "Reconnaissance" system.
The system was set up by the Alliance des Crus Bourgeois du Médoc last year in conjunction with international compliance agency Bureau Veritas and with the support of the French government.
Wines will be shown to the UK wine trade and press in London on September 21.
A representative number of the wines will be available to taste at the event, some seeking UK representation and others with established distribution.
The new system awards the right to use the term Cru Bourgeois only to bottled wines from any of the eight Médoc appellations which pass a set of rigorous wine quality and production facility tests. The appellations are Médoc, Haut-Médoc, Listrac-Médoc, Moulis en Médoc, Margaux, Saint Julien, Pauillac and Saint Estèphe.
Last year, 243 wines from the 2008 vintage attained Cru Bourgeois status.
