In times of trouble many businesses turn to trade associations for advice or practical help ? Harpers wants to assess how valuable they are to drinks firms.

Our survey aims to gauge whether wine firms join up to trade bodies, how valuable they find the services provided and whether membership represents good value for money.

There are a plethora of organisations to choose from, ranging from the Wine & Spirits Trade Association to The Federation of Small Businesses, and services offered include alcohol specific guidance, tips on business red tape, government lobbying and training.

In the recent riots across England, a number of the associations responded quickly, offering help to affected members and lobbying government for business rates relief in the wake of the violence, as well as extending the deadline for claims under the Riot (Damages) Act.
