Angela Mount: help me on my charity walk

Published:  16 May, 2010

As you know I have been fighting breast cancer for the last two years; I vowed to fight it, and when ( not if) I got better, to do whatever I could to help research into preventing this vile disease, which will affect one woman in eight.

As you know I have been fighting breast cancer for the last two years; I vowed to fight it, and when ( not if) I got better, to do whatever I could to help research into preventing this vile disease, which will affect one woman in eight.

I am feeling great and loving life, as I found out recently, that , after two years of surgery and treatment, I am in remission. I won't get the all clear for another three years, but this is a huge milestone for me.

I am one of the fortunate ones so far, and I have had amazing support from my friends, family and colleagues. The heroes of the last two years are my three amazing children, who have had to live this horrible experience with me, and have had to cope with the fear and the worry that cancer brings. I am incredibly proud of them. Their bravery, in coping with the impact of the last two years, is truly amazing.

I am setting up my own charity appeal, 'Rose for Life', which will be launched later this year, please contact Angela@angelamount.com for more details and how to support.

Cancer destroys lives and families and I am determined to do whatever I can to help research to prevent it, and improve recovery chances, and to support women who are battling it, and their families, in terms of treatment and care

I have been lucky, but I've met so many others who have not been, and are still struggling - so it's now my turn to give back, and having experienced the hell of this, I intend to do whatever I can to reduce the incidence of this disease, for my daughter's generation, raise awareness, and help current sufferers( I refuse to use the word victims), through it.

So I'm walking the 26 mile Edinburgh Moonwalk on June 19th for Breast Cancer Research, with 5 friends, and I want to make a real difference. I attach the link to my fundraising site, which I have set up. Please give as generously as you possibly can. I know that there are lots of charity events around. This is so personal, and many of you will have witnessed me fighting through this, for the last two years.

I'm also running Race for Life in early June; I'm not asking for sponsorship for this. But my little six year old daughter asked me last week if she could do it too, to help make other Mummies better! So rather than try to race it, I'm going to jog/walk it with her, and crossing the finishing line with her will be a very special moment.

So I make no apologies for asking you to also give a small donation ( or large), even just a £1 or £2 to help the fundraising of a little girl , who wants to help raise money to fight this disease and who has been so strong and brave herself when I was ill. Please read her fundraising page, she and her 10 year old brother wrote it. I need say no more.

Thank you in advance for your support
