Specialist wine importers launch new collective

Published:  17 May, 2019

A new collective of specialist wine importers - Spot - is set to launch at the London Wine Fair (LWF).

The collective said it will give buyers “access to a wide portfolio of genuinely differentiated wines via one supplier, one delivery and one invoice".

It was created by HispaMerchants, which represents family-owned wineries from Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Spain.

The other three founding members are Go Brazil Wines, which said its portfolio “showcases the best of modern Brazilian winemaking”, The Three Amigos, which is made up of three British-born Spanish wine producers offering wines from Spain, and the The Portuguese Fine Wine Co, which said it offers an “array of delicious artisanal wines from across Portugal to the UK”.

Each member of the collective will have access to the combined Spot portfolio and can work on a single supplier, single invoice basis with its customer base.

“We recognise the challenges that buyers are currently facing,” said Solano Peña-Lenzi, director at Hispamerchants.

“And whilst there are many advantages to working with specialist importers, not least a deep selection of wines from a particular region, the portfolio offered is often not wide enough to justify lots of small invoices for lots of small orders from multiple suppliers. Spot offers buyers an attractive, flexible solution that won’t scare the finance department.

“This is a very exciting time for Hispamerchants and for all the founding members of Spot. This new collective will allow each of us to expand our offerings, whilst adhering to our individual specialities. Our clients and prospects are already seeing the advantages of a combined portfolio of specialists, consolidated all in one delivery with one invoice, and our aim is to widen the offering from Spot as the collective evolves and grows.”
