Maisons Marques et Domaines has been given exclusivity rights for Chablis producer Domaine Billaud-Simon.
From January 1, the domaine will be distributed in the UK solely by MMD, the distributor of Champagne Louis Roederer’s brands in the UK.
Billaud-Simon has another connection with the distributor through Burgundy’s Domaine Faiveley, which has been distributed by MMD for the past two decades.
Erwan Faiveley, owner of Domaine Faiveley and Domaine Billaud-Simon, said aligning distribution of both estates was a “natural move”.
Richard Billett, managing director at MMD, added: “We are delighted to welcome Billaud-Simon into the MMD portfolio as it not only enhances the strength and breadth of our Burgundy proposition but also deepens our long-standing collaboration and valued partnership with Domaine Faiveley.”
Domaine Billaud-Simon was founded in 1815, and since then has garnered a reputation for its wines from 20 hectares of premium Chablis vineyards.
Its signature is mineral-driven wines, with the majority seeing no oak.
It now joins Domaine Faiveley alongside MMD’s portfolio of family-owned estate focused producers.
As well as Louis Roederer, MMD now manages 17 brands in the UK, including Château Pichon-Lalande, Domaines Ott, Marques de Murrieta and Pio Cesare.
